School Council and Friends of Montrose Meeting

First Meeting and AGM
We invite all parents and guardians to attend our upcoming Annual General Meeting for both the School Council and the Friends of Montrose Society. This is an important opportunity to get involved, hear updates, and help shape the direction of our school community.
We are also looking for new members and board members to join. If you are interested in contributing your time and ideas, this is a great chance to make a difference.
What is a School Council?
Every school in Alberta has a School Council made up of parents, the principal, staff, and community members. The council’s purpose is to support student learning and strengthen the school community.
School Councils:
-
Focus on what is best for all students
-
Share the parent voice with the school and school board
-
Help shape and reflect the culture of the school
Joining School Council is a meaningful way for parents to be involved, share ideas, and support student success.
Friends of Montrose – Our Fundraising Association
Fundraising Associations, such as Friends of Montrose, are separate from School Councils but work alongside them to support the school. Their focus is on raising funds to enhance student programs, activities, and opportunities.
While School Councils focus on the parent voice and school decision-making, Fundraising Associations provide the financial support that helps make many of these initiatives possible.
